Pets are every child's dream. Children love them. The most popular pets in England are dogs. In England, dogs are man's best friend. In Switzerland everyone keeps tropical fish, And, cats and rabbits are at the top of the list in France! 

Dogs sleep in kennels, rabbits live in hutches, and tropical fish are happy in aquariums.

But, some people have very unusual pets. Rodney, who lives in London has an elephant called Philip.  No-one has ever seen Philip because Philip sleeps all day long under Rodney's bed! Have you got a pet under your bed?

Samuel Pepys lived more than 300 years ago and was famous for his diary. In it, Samuel Pepys wrote about London, his home, his friends, himself, and about very important events.

The great plague and the fire of London were two of the things he recorded in his diary.

Samuel Pepys was born in 1633, and as a young man, he experienced the civil war in England.

Samuel Pepys died in 1703.

Sally is on holiday in Vienna and she has a ticket for the opera. But, where is the opera? Sally is lost.

“Of course – the opera is easy to find – just go straight ahead until you reach the ring. On your way you will pass the Rochusmarkt on your right, the Hilton hotel on your left, and, after crossing the River Vienna, you will see Vienna's biggest park, the Stadtpark. Then you will be at the Ring”
“It sounds really easy – so far so good
“Then, when you reach the ring, turn left and follow it round. The opera house will be on your right-hand side”
